Russia’s decision to write off 80 percent of Iraqi debt is correct taking into account economic aspects of the issue, Kristalina Georgieva, the World Bank’s Director of the Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development (ESSD) Network, said at a press conference today. She stressed, that the Iraqi problem concerned everybody. Georgieva said that Iraq was not the poorest state, but it is in the position of high risks. These risks may affect other countries as well. Thus, it may influence the US fiscal policies, as deficit in this country is a risk factor itself, she emphasized.
