15.01.2005 - The Russian Winter festival has got off to a good start in London’s Trafalgar Square
As early as Saturday morning, Londoners could watch the renowned Alexandrov Russian Army song and dance company’s choir rehearsing its program for the open-air show. The festival’s information offices stationed around the Square also opened this morning. A bit later, a huge screen mounted at the Nelson column started to feature the famous "Belgian nightingale" Helmut Lotti performing Russian folk songs against the background of Russian landscapes.

London is filled with outdoor and metro red-and-white posters dedicated to a Russian culture gala to be staged this Saturday, on January 15, from midday to 8 p.m. Admission is free of charge due to the generous sponsorship of leading Russian companies. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the show which is oriented to both, Russian-language speakers with roots in Russia and former Soviet republics as well as at tourists from all over the world. Guests, participants and sponsors have been streaming in since Thursday.

19.12.2004 - The Soviet Union was not to blame for the tragedy of Britain’s trawler the Gaul
The ship most certainly wrecked in a storm, says David Steel, court president. The investigation overturned versions one by one. First came an assumption of Russians or people of any other country seizing the Gaul. Crew members or third persons were next cleaned of suspicion, just as fire, a blast and drifting ice. A collision with another vessel, in particular, a submarine, to which several television programs were referring, was also ruled out as it would have damaged the trawler far worse than it actually was.
