The State Duma, parliament’s lower house, landslided in an initial reading amendments to the Mass Media Law to limit violent scenes cast on the electronic media on Wednesday. The bill won 420 votes, against a threshold 226. It envisages an amendment of Clause 4 to ban murder and other violent scenes in television news updates, features and documentaries from 7 in the morning to 10 in the evening.
