U.S. Vice-President Richard Cheney arrived in Kiev on Thursday.
The U.S. vice-president was welcomed at Borispol’s airport by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ogryzko, U.S. Ambassador in Kiev William Taylor, Kiev Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky, Ukrainian Ambassador in Washington Oleg Shamshur and deputy head of the president’s secretariat Andrei Goncharuk.

The official programme of Cheney’s working visit will begin on Friday. He will meet the Ukrainian president. Both parties intend to discuss “the state of and prospects for Ukrainian-American relations, as well as the settlement of the situation in Georgia, international security and the settlement of trans-Atlantic relations,” the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.
