South Ossetia and Georgia have been exchanging detainees.
South Ossetian human rights ombudsman David Sanakoyev told Itar-Tass that on Thursday South Ossetia handed over 56 people to Georgia. In exchange it received eight Ossetians, including one, who was heavily injured.
“In fact, they are hostages. Among them is a soldier of the South Ossetian peacekeeping battalion, others are rural residents, who had been taken by the Georgian troops,” he said.
