Putin calls for new tools for modernise science and education in Russia
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin called for developing new tools for modernising science and education and increasing the effectiveness of the public sector in these fields.
“The efficiency of the public sector in science remains low,” Putin said on Wednesday. “The success of fundamental science does not ensure necessary dynamics and quality of applied research, which, in turn, do not fully take into account the real needs of the economy.”

The purpose of the programme is to create conditions for effective reproduction of scientific and research and pedagogical personnel, for keeping young specialists in science, education and high-tech industries, and preserving the continuity of generations in science and education, the government press service said.
This will be achieved by hiring highly qualified personnel, creating incentives and bonuses for recruiting young specialists to science, education and high-tech industries (including defence industry, energy sector, aircraft and space industry, atomic industry, and other priority high-tech industries), and devising mechanisms for replenishing scientific and pedagogical personnel.
