Writer Alexander Solzhennitsyn dies in Moscow at age 89
Russia’s prominent writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn has died in Moscow at the age of 89.

Stepan, the son of the late literary genius, told Itar-Tass that Alexander Isayevich Solzhenitsyn died at home. According to him, his father died of “acute heart failure.” He died at 23:45, Moscow time, Sunday.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn had a long illness, but continued to engage in the active creative work. Together with his wife Natalya Dmitriyevna – the president of his fund, the writer was working on the preparation of his most complete 30-volume collected works for publication.
