Russian pres congratulates Dima Bilan on Eurovision-2008 victory
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated singer Dima Bilan and the Russian team on their victory at the Erovision-2008 song contest, Kremlin spokesman Alexei Gromov said.
"Dmitry Medvedev is confident that Russia will host the Eurovision-2009 contest at top level," Gromov underlined.
Bilan outperformed Ukraine's Ani Lorak and Kalomira of Greece.
Bilan received the main Eurovision prize - Crystal Microphone - from last year winner

Marija Serifovic. Triumphant, the trio which included a violinist and an ice-dancer, performed to encore their hit "Believe Me" in the overcrowded Beogradska Arena hall.
The trio - Dima Bilan, Edvin Marton and Yevgeny Plyushchenko - gathered 272 points from viewers. It is the first victory in the contest for Russia. Eurovision contests have been held annually since 1956. Russia was represented in recent years by Alla Pugachyova, Filipp Kirkorov, Alsou, and popular groups Mumi Troll, Prime Minister, and Tatu.
