A special operation has been conducted in Nazran in the Tsentr-Kamaz district after getting intelligence information that persons involved in firing at officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) department for the Ingushetia republic on April 23, 2008, were hiding in a house in Malsagov Street, the public relations group of the FSB department told Itar-Tass.
The special operation at 25, Malsagov Street, to block and liquidate the gunmen was conducted on Tuesday afternoon and was completed by 22:00, Moscow time.
“According to explanations of the hostess of the house ahead of the search of the house, two persons – a man and a woman lived with her. She rented them the house without checking their documents and notifying police officials,” the republican FSB department said.
When fighters of special task force units approached the house, fire was opened on them from the inside from automatic weapons. The blocked militants also used grenades. The hostess of the house Yakha Izmailova, 52, was wounded during the shootout and died, the FSB officers said.
According to the republic’s FSB department, “During the clash the members of illegal armed groups set off unidentified homemade explosive devices. They died of injuries on the spot. Two dead bodies – of a man and a woman – were found during the examination of the incident site, as well as a Kalashnikov submachine gun, rounds to it, a pistol and many shot cartridges.
There have been no losses among personnel of the special task force units.
The identities of the killed militants are being ascertained.
