London's Chelsea soccer team has qualified for the final of the Champions' League, defeating Liverpool, 3-2, in the second semi-final match played at the Stamford Bridge Stadium here on Wednesday night.
The main playing period of the match ended in a draw, 1-1, with the scorers being Didier Drogba (33rd minute) and Fernando Torres of the Liverpool (64th minute).
During the first extra period, following a foul on Liverpool halfback Michael Ballack, the referee awarded a penalty kick that was used to advantage by Frank Lampard. In the 105th minute, Chelsea forward Didier Drogba sent the ball into the net. In the 117th minute Ryan Babel of the Liverpool scored a goal through a long-distance shot.
Thereby, Chelsea becomes a rival of the Manchester United in the Champions League final match, which is to be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on May 21.
