	France grants political asylum to Okruashvili

The French authorities have granted political asylum to Irakly Okruashvili, ex-defence minister of Georgia, a representative of the Movement for United Georgia – a political party created by Okruashvili in September 2007 – reported here on Wednesday.

He said that Okruashvili, 35, now staying in Paris, “has already received an official letter from the corresponding authorities of France on the granting of political asylum to him in that country.”
