Russian Church abroad to elect supreme hierarch May 12
Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia /ROCOR/, which reunited with the Russian Orthodox Church reporting to Moscow Patriarchate last May, will elect ROCOR’s new supreme hierarch at a conference May 12, the Right Reverend Seraphim Gan, the official spokesman for the Church told.
A decision on this was taken at an expanded meeting of the ROCOR Synod last Saturday, he said.
The former supreme hierarch, Metropolitan Laurus died in the Holy Trinity monastery in Jordanville, NY, at the age of 81 years old March 16 and was buried there March 21.
