Private investors to build dozens of Olympics facilities in Sochi

Private investors will build 59 Olympic facilities in south Russia's Krasnodar Territory, Regional Development Minister Dmitry Kozak told the lower house of Russia's parliament on Wednesday.

Russia will host the 2014 Winter Olympics at the Black Sea resort of Sochi, in the Krasnodar Territory.

Kozak said investors would be selected later this year, with tenders for the first 39 facilities to be held soon.

The minister said a total of 243 facilities would be built for the Olympics, including 20 sports venues, 48 transport infrastructure buildings and 59 engineering infrastructure projects, as well as 11 telecom, 36 power and 33 hotel facilities.

Kozak also said that 180,000 people would be employed in the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi.
