Christie's will auction Russian jewelry valued at more than $40 million in Geneva on November 15, a spokesman for the auction house said on Tuesday.
"The items will include large gems and interesting historic jewels," the spokesman told RIA Novosti.
The auction in Switzerland will feature a special Russian jewel section for the first time, he said. The section will comprise 15 unique jewels, including two 18th century items, which belonged to the Russian royal famil | Ads |  | y and were sold by the Soviet government in 1927 - amethyst and diamond earrings, and an eagle-shaped brooch.
Items made by Gustav Faberge and Carl Bolin, as well as other lesser-known Russian jewelers, will also go under the hammer, along with items from the collection of Katharina Henckel von Donnersmarck, a German countess of Russian origin.
