Businessman Alisher Usmanov has confirmed his intention to donate the Mstislav Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevskaya collection of art objects he recently purchased during a Sotheby's auction to the state.
The collection "will definitely and undoubtedly be given to the state, because my feeling as an owner absolutely doesn't work in this case," Usmanov said in an interview aired on the Vesti-24 news TV channel on Tuesday.
"A number of very respected people, whom our whole country respects, have already approached me. Certainly, as in any other business, I listen to what professionals say - for instance, such people as the heads of the Pushkin Museum [of Fine Arts], the Russian Museum, and the Kremlin [ensemble of museums], and I believe a balanced and calm decision will be made on this basis," he said.
"At least we will decide where to display this in our country," he said.
