The 20th Moscow International Book Exhibition and Fair opened at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre on Wednesday.
Mikhail Seslavinsky, the head of the Federal Agency for Print and Mass Media, addressed words of welcome to the exhibition’s guests.
“This is a joyful and remarkable event. We open the 20th jubilee Moscow International Book Exhibition and Fair. Justifiably, China is the guest of honour at the jubilee exhibition,” Seslavinsky said.

being the guest of the Beijing Book Exhibition last year,” Seslavinsky said.
Russia’s First Deputy Premier Dmitry Medvedev and member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Chen Zhili then took the floor.
The government members of both countries took part in the ceremony of commemorative cancellation of an envelope issued for the 30th anniversary of the Moscow book exhibition.
The 20th Moscow book fair is dedicated to the Russian language year. Taking part in it are over 2,500 organizations, including representatives of 70 countries, among them delegations of Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain, Finland, Israel, Iran, Egypt, South Africa, Cuba, United States, Canada and Australia.
China is the guest of honour at the Moscow book exhibition this year. China’s display that takes up an area of over 1,000 square metres presents over 8,000 book titles. The Chinese delegation includes 340 people representing 173 publishers and including twenty most prominent writers. The exhibition will last till September 10.
