Moscow has higher chances to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games
Moscow has higher chances to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games after the visit of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) evaluation commission, famous Russian swimmer Alexander Popov said Thursday in an exclusive interview with RIA Novosti.

The IOC representatives were pleasantly surprised with the condition and the number of sports facilities in Russia, he stressed.

On Thursday the IOC evaluation commission completed the inspection of the Olympic facilities in Moscow. Sports complex Olympiisky (the swimming pool

and the main arena) and the Lokomotiv stadium were the last places the guests inspected.

Olga Kharmadzheva, the first deputy general director of Olympiisky said that the sports complex only needs technical equipment upgrades in order to host the 2012-Olympics.

"If Moscow wins the right to host the 2012-Olympics, than the Olympiisky sports complex will need new electronic and information equipment, since the current equipment will be outdated by that time. We also plan to modernize the illumination system and the means of communication," Kharmadzheva said.

The honorary guests at the Lokomotiv football stadium played football to warm up in the sunny, but still-cold morning.

The representatives of the stadium presented the guests with four soccer balls. Alexander Chernov, General manager of the Moscow 2012 application committee played the goal, while the IOC representatives were shooting 11-meter penalties. Each goal was met with applauses on behalf of the gathered journalists.

Presentations on three topics - technologies, mass media and culture, were held at the National hotel, where the guests gathered after the stadium.

The final IOC commissions press conference will be held on Thursday, where the representatives of the Moscow 2012 application committee will answer the questions of journalists as well.
