The national concept for fighting money laundering is to be submitted to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future, head of the Russian Federal Service for Financial Monitoring Viktor Zubkov told journalists. According to Zubkov, this document will set guidelines for work aimed at countering money laundering and funding terror activities till 2010.
This concept was submitted to the government late in 2004. The Russian Federal Service for Financial Monitoring in cooperation with other institutions worked on the concept, Zubkov said. It comprises a number of proposals on amendments to the existing laws covering money laundering.
