Chechen militants more and more often use explosive devices disguised as common objects, Regional Operative Headquarters (ROSh) of the counter-terrorist operation in the Northern Caucasus told RIA Novosti.
"Very often booby traps are disguised as objects of domestic use and are set up in places where many people gather," the ROSh official reported.
He said, for instance, that yesterday policemen discovered in the Leninski district of Grozny an aluminum beer can filled with TNT and equipped with an electric fuse.

The ROSh official also reported that militants often place explosive devices in semi-destroyed houses where workers conduct debris-clearing operations. "For example, during a debris clearing operation in the village of Dyshne-Vedeno in the Vedenski district a self-made explosive device went off. As a result of the explosion, two local residents who participated in the clearing were wounded and received contusions," the ROSh representative stressed.
Law enforcement authorities advise local residents to report immediately the discovery of any suspicious-looking objects.
