The unified air defense system of the Commonwealth of Independent States plans to hold Combat Commonwealth-2005 exercises with combat firing next year.
A relevant decision was made by the council of the CIS defense ministers, Lieutenant General Aitech Bizhev, deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force in charge of the CIS unified air defense system, told RIA Novosti.
According to him, Combat Commonwealth-2005 exercises with combat firing will take place at the shooting ranges Telemba, Ashuluk (Russia) and Sar | Ads |  |
y-Shagan (Kazakhstan).
Two sessions of the CIS air defense coordination committee and over ten command-post exercises aimed to improve the CIS air defense system are planned, as well, Lieutenant General Aitech Bizhev said.
February 10, 2005 marks the 10th anniversary of the creation of the CIS unified air defense system.
