At present corruption in Russia has amounted to a level where it threatens human rights |

On Tuesday the Russian State Duma will hold parliamentary hearings on problems of implementing Russian legislation in connection with Russias joining the UN Corruption Convention and the Council of Europes Criminal Law Convention on Corruption and Civil Law Convention on Corruption.
At present corruption in Russia has amounted to a level where it threatens human rights, the rule of law, stability of democratic institutions and moral principles of the society, disrupts state administration, violates the principles of equality and social justice and hinders economic development, believes the lower chambers anti-corruption committee, which organizes the hearing.

Also, they say that international community has accumulated significant experience in counteracting corruption, has formed an efficient international legal system of anti-corruption measures. It is based on the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Council of Europes conventions, which Russia has ratified.
Bringing Russian law in line with international standards will demonstrate the states political will for decisive and uncompromising fight against corruption, the committee pointed out.
During the session the parliamentarians will discuss state policy and strategies to counteract corruption, as well as to propose monitoring of the anti-corruption fight progress in Russia.
