The 9th Russian Orthodoxy on Television and Radio festival will open in Voronezh on Monday with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, a spokesman for the organizing committee told RIA Novosti.
The festival focuses on significant events in the life of the Russian Christians and the history of the Russian Orthodox Church such as the 250th anniversary of the birth of St. Seraphim of Sarov and the return of the Our Lady of Tikhvin and of Our Lady of Kazan icons to Russia.
One hundred and twenty representatives from 80 television and | Ads |  | radio stations will attend the festival.
Until now the festival had been held in Moscow. The festival is being held in Voronezh to mark the 70th anniversary of the Voronezh region and the 50th anniversary of the first television broadcast in the city. The Voronezh television and radio company regularly broadcasts programs about the Russian Orthodox Church and has received multiple awards.
The organizers will hold a contest and give prizes and awards to winners in 23 categories.
The organizers have also planned cultural, educational and creative programs, seminars, master classes, discussions on important topics and meetings with celebrities and well-known members of the clergy.
The festival ends on November 26.
