Land forces will continue taking part in the counter terrorist operation in Chechnya, said General Alexei Maslov, commander of the Russian Land Forces.
"In conditions of international terrorism becoming more active, Land Forces units in interaction with other power departments will continue to participate in the counter terrorist operation in Chechnya," he said.
On Saturday Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov introduced General Maslov to the command of the Land Forces. General Maslov was appointed to this post on | Ads |  |

"I realize the whole responsibility. I will do everything possible to preserve our forces as one of the most modern and powerful branch of the Armed Forces," he said.
Mr. Ivanov gave General Maslov the standard of the Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces.
