The International Helsinki Federation (IHF) has called on European Union countries to ask Russia to observe human rights in Chechnya.
"We are deeply concerned that Chechnya itself is becoming a forgotten conflict zone. But the bloodshed continues and cruelty and violence have reached truly unprecedented levels both in Chechnya and beyond," said the groups statement released in relation to the Russia-EU summit planned for November 11.
The document said that "The IHF calls upon the European Union states to insist tha | Ads |  | t the Russian government adhere to its obligations under international human rights and humanitarian law."
