Russia ranks world’s 7th by number of foreign tourists in 2003
Russia ranks world’s 7th by number of foreign tourists in 2003 Russia ranked the world’s seventh by the number of foreign tourists (20.2 million) in 2003, the World Tourism Organization reports.

France ranked the world’s first with 76.5 million foreign tourists, followed by Spain (49.5 million), the United States (45.5 million), Italy (38.9 million) and China (33 million). The World Tourism Organization statistics, posted in the web-edition of the Russian Union of Travel Industry RATA-News, is based on information from border services.

Tourism revenues of the United States made $68.4 billion last year. It was $29.3 billion for France, $27.3 billion for Spain, $24.4 billion for Italy and $19.2 billion for the United Kingdom. Russia ranked the world’s 16th with nearly $6.3 billion.

American citizens spent over $58 billion on tourist voyages last year. The rate was $47.5 billion for Germans, $34.3 billion for Britons, $28.7 billion for Japanese, $21.5 billion for Spaniards and $7.6 billion for Russians.
