The British Music Festival is the first celebration of British musical culture in the Urals. The festival will be held in Ekaterinburg 11-14 October 2007.
About the festival
The festival will present the work of British composers little known to the Russian audience. This is why it does not focus on a single author or a musical trend, but rather the programme is a panorama of British music from 16th to 21st century. Most of the pieces will be performed for the first time not only in Ekaterinburg, but in Russia.
Programme
The programme features classical as well as modern composers, including Mark-Anthony Turnage, Benjamin Britten, Frederick Delius, Herbert Howells, Paul Patterson and many others. Mark-Anthony Turnage, an outstanding modern composer will be attending the festival. UK musicians will give open lessons and master classes. As part of the festival a workshop for children will also be organised. Please have a look at the full programme of the festival, biographies of the composers and musicians.
