The British-Russian Music Festival of Multicultural City UK Flavours will be on 21 July 2007 in St Petersburg. The Festival is organized by British Council and promoting company NCA who aim to introduce the culture of ethnic minorities living in UK to the Russian audience.
The artists
The headliner of the Festival is Lily Allen, whose single Smile not only became number one in UK, but was also a welcome guest of play-lists of Russian radio stations.
22-years old Lily Allen is one of the most popular contemporary British singers. More than million copies of her album “All right, Still” were sold in the world. The music of Lily is a mixture of Caribbean rhythms and European pop music.
Also there will be performances by following British artists: Mad Professor (famous dub producer, who has worked with such stars as Massive Attack and Jamiroquai), Fun-da-Mental (a band which mixes electronic dance music with eastern and Afro-caribbean music), Dub Pistols (dub), Misty In Roots (reggae), Tigerstyle (trip-hop) and Anjali.
Additional programme
In addition to main stage there will be VIP-stage in the Bridge Lounge restaurant. As a part of the UK Flavours project there will be screening of “Babylon”, legendary reggae music film (1980, director: Franco Rosso). Date: 22 July 2007, time to be confirmed. Location: Dom Kino, ul. Karavannaya, 12
