Koloskov is trying to smooth out effects of his resignation in international football authorities
Koloskov is trying to smooth out effects of his resignation in international football authorities

President of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov is trying to smooth out effects of his resignation in international football authorities.

"The sore point to me is that my FIFA and UEFA friends do not receive it as a personal insult and do not shift this approach to Russian football", Mr.Koloskov told the Thursday news conference after the sitting of the RFU executive committee. "Honestly speaking, I have hard work to do. Today's sitting is not very timely because after February 2 the UEFA executive committee will consider where the Champions' League finals will be held", Mr.Koloskov said. He explained that Moscow is a claimant to this right.

"Unfortunately, consequences are not very favorable for us. My goal is to minimize negative effects, if any", Mr.Koloskov summed up.

He declared resignation on Thursday at the press conference after the sitting of the RFU executive committee.

"I asked the committee to consider my early resignation and election of new president for the RFU", Mr.Koloskov told the news conference.

Vyacheslav Fetisov, head of the Federal Physical Culture and Sport Agency, refused to comment on the resignation, his aide Dmitri Tugarin told RIA Novosti in the telephone interview.

"Everything is clear", he said curtly.

Noteworthily, Mr.Fetisov was the first to say in November 2004 that Mr.Koloskov's resignation is a decided matter and is due very soon.
