Putin to make state of the nation address Apr. 25
Putin to make state of the nation address Apr. 25 Russian President Vladimir Putin will make his annual state of the nation address to both houses of parliament April 25, the Kremlin press service said Thursday.

"Under the Russian Constitution, Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver an annual state of the nation address to the Federal Assembly on key issues of the state's domestic and foreign policy on April 25, 2007," the press service said.

This will be Putin's eighth address to parliament and the 14th presidential address. Apart from MPs, government officials, representatives of Russia's key courts, the prosecutor general, the chairmen of the Central Election Commission and the Audit Chamber, members of the Russian State Council and the clergy are traditionally invited to the Kremlin's Marble Hall, where the address is made.

In his state of the nation address on May 10, 2006, Putin highlighted a demographic crisis as the most serious problem facing Russia and proposed radical measures to deal with it. He also called for tougher anti-corruption measures.
