Russia's largest-ever tri-colour flag is to be hoisted at a ceremony here on Wednesday in honour of the Day of the State Flag.
Activists of the United Russia party, among them sportspersons Irina Rodnina and Vladislav Tretyak, will be present at the ceremony, which is to take place at the Olympic rowing canal at Krylatskoye.
The state flag festival was instituted by a Presidential Decree dated August 1994 in view of the restoration of "the tri-coloured State Flag covered with the glory of many generations of the people of Russia and for the purposes of fostering a respectful attitude to the symbols of the State in the present generation of the citizens of Russia and generations to come".
