Russian Air Force celebrates 95th anniversary
Russia marks Air Force Day this Sunday.

The decision to mark the date was taken by the Russian president on August 29, 1997.

Russia's military aviation force was set up 95 years ago, on August 12, 1912, when the military department by its order put an aircraft unit into service.

On the eve of the anniversary, long-range aviation aircraft during three-day exercises flew over ocean areas and successfully carried out operations to drop bombs and fire cruise missiles at the Pemboi firing range near Vorkuta.

A meeting was held in the Russian Army Theater in Moscow on Friday to mark the jubilee, and an air show took place at the Monino air garrison near Moscow on Saturday.
